As the spread and far-reaching strong impacts of Covid-19 dominate the world news and we are overloaded with negative news, worries, anxiety, and instability.
It’s surprisingly Awesome that people are demonstrating resilience skills through mindfulness in this challenging time. I believe Resilience is the ‘rubber ball’ factor: the ability to bounce back in the event of adversity. Resilience is the ability to cope with and rise to the critical situations, and set-backs we meet in the course of our life, and come back stronger from them. Resilience is the skill of observing our own thoughts, moving away from the non-constructive ones, and rebalancing towards our goals. These skills can be nurtured and learnt. Here are three effective strategies:-
First, Calm your mind…meditate or practice belly breathing
When you focus on calming and clearing your mind, you can pay attention to what is really going on around you and what is coming up within you
Secondly, Look out the window, appreciate whatever you have and express gratitude.
Thirdly Connect with others through compassion: Network with your old school friends, college friends, colleagues and family friends.
